Across the border tonight at Sudsy Malone's in Cincinnati, poetic
folk-rocker DAVID WOLFENBERGER showcases the subtle strains of psychedelic Americana that
won him "Artist of the Year" honors at the 1999 Cincinnati Music Awards. The
former Marshwiggles frontman will feature tracks off his provocative solo debut, Tales
of Thom Scarecrow, a dazzling collection of socially abstract prose and self-professed
apocalyptic dreams laid gently across a mildly hallucinogenic soundscape. Produced by Over
the Rhine
guitarist Ric Hordinski (who also lays down some wonderfully atmospheric
guitar and mellotron lines), this disc stands out as one of the most
impressive folk-oriented releases of the past year and positions
Wolfenberger as one of the most significant songwriters in the region.
Highly recommended...
